55 Market Street

Project Overview

55 Market Street is a 21,000m2 commercial office tower which was constructed between 1988 and 1990.  The building is located at the corners of Pitt and Market Street, at the southern end of Pitt Street Mall, one of Australia’s busiest and most cosmopolitan shopping precincts, where floor space rents are accordingly the highest in Australia.

EVC were appointed to project manage the upgrade the retail podium of the building, including a new retail facade with digital signage.

The key features of the upgrade included:

  • The development of a project brief to maximise the retail opportunity for this landmark retail site
  • The development of design solutions to facilitate the leasing opportunities as developed by Investa
  • The development of a façade digital signage solution to facilitate the unique signage exposure, reminiscent of Times Square
  • The development of a design for a new corporate entry lobby
  • The review and development of a BCA upgrade strategy for retail development
  • The coordination of a DA for the preferred retail upgrade option
