At the southern end of Pitt Street Mall, 55 Market Street sits at the doorstep of one of Australia’s busiest and most cosmopolitan shopping precincts. The 3,000m2 of retail podium space and 21,000m2 of commercial office space will enjoy a prominent position in the heart of Sydney CBD with the transformed George Street and light rail nearby.
EVC were appointed by the owners of 55 Market Street in 2017 to project manage the major refurbishment and repositioning of the asset. In co-ordination with Fender Katsalidis Architects, a spectacular podium façade design was developed to reposition the retail podium into a commanding presence in the middle of the CBD retail district, while still maintaining a connection to the surrounding heritage context. With the DA for the upgrade approved, EVC will manage the consultant and construction team to completion of the project in late 2020.
